What things should I take on a yacht?

A yacht is a small home where you’ll be living. It’s nice to have a tidy and clean home, which is easier to maintain when there’s no unnecessary clutter. Therefore, we recommend bringing only the essentials, or simply try to follow the thoughtful list below.

First, keep in mind the first rule: you can’t pack a hard suitcase on a yacht, as there’s no room in your cabin to store it. You should bring your belongings in a soft bag or backpack, so you can fold it up and stow it in a closet or under your bed.

The basic kit consists of essential items and can be supplemented depending on the season. For summer, the items listed here will be sufficient:
– Personal hygiene products
– Personal first aid kit and 30-50 sunscreen
– Sailing gloves
– Sailing boots
– Waterproof and windproof windbreaker
– Lightweight long-sleeved T-shirt (Rash Vest)
– Sunglasses and a hat
– Shorts, swimming trunks, swimsuit, and flip-flops

Inshore or Coastal:
– Non-waterproof suit (Inshore or Coastal)
– Sleeping bag (a warm blanket will be provided on board if desired)
– Thermal underwear
– Waterproof shoes or rubber boots

Offshore or Ocean:
– Heavy non-waterproof suit (Offshore or Ocean) (see the Sailing Equipment section)
– Sleeping bag suitable for temperatures (comfort 10-0°C)
– Warm fleece

Will I get seasick on a yacht?

This largely depends on your vestibular system. If you get motion sickness in buses and cars, you’ll likely also experience motion sickness on a yacht. Modern medicine can help alleviate this problem. There are many motion sickness remedies available that will make your yacht trip enjoyable and unforgettable. Therefore, we recommend taking precautions in advance.

Almost everyone gets motion sickness for the first day or two, but after that, the body adjusts and there are usually no problems. To ensure you feel better during the first two days, buy motion sickness medication from a pharmacy.

The English like to say, “I’ve only ever met two captains who’ve never been seasick, and one of them never left port, while the other is a constant liar.” Our experience shows that only about one or two people in a thousand are clinically free of motion sickness, but sensitivity to seasickness is a very individual thing. Moreover, resistance to seasickness can vary, including with different wave heights and periods, different types of seasickness, and so on.

There are three pieces of good news about seasickness.

1) There are many effective ways to combat it.

2) By the third day at sea, almost everyone stops feeling seasick (again, only a few in thousands are immune). The body adapts, gets used to the seasickness, and all the unpleasant symptoms disappear.

3) Resistance to motion sickness can be trained, and seasickness goes away with experience too – that’s why professional yacht captains really never get seasick.

I have no yachting experience, is that okay?

Yes, absolutely! We are happy to welcome beginners on our yachting trips. Under the guidance of an experienced captain, you will be able to learn all the necessary skills and feel confident on board, even if you have no prior yachting experience

What about meals?

The yacht has a large kitchen with everything you need for cooking. *You can see the Galley section in the yacht description.
On the first day after checking in, we go to the store and buy food for the entire week on the yacht. We take turns cooking and washing the dishes. For dinner, we often go to cozy local restaurants.

Is there a minimum age requirement?

Participants must be at least 18 years old. For younger sailors (16-17), we require parental consent and they must be accompanied by a guardian. We maintain high safety standards and some activities may not be suitable for children.

Can I swim during the trip?

Absolutely! We’ll have several opportunities to swim in secluded coves and natural pools. The water temperature on our trips is almost always comfortable for swimming. We usually choose a region and time with favorable weather.
